Mark Holcomb is one of three guitarists in progressive metal band Periphery, but often, it is he who's responsible for playing the most complex and intricate parts in their songs. In order to keep up with the fast and frenetic nature of Periphery's music, Holcomb therefore needs a guitar that can keep up with the pace. Teaming up with PRS a few years ago, Mark's signature SE model is optimised to cope with the demands and stresses that come with modern metal music and touring. Key features include Mark's signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups, PRS' playable 'Wide Thin' neck profile and an ultra-flat 20"-radius Ebony fingerboard.

Features:

  • Body: The PRS SE Mark Holcomb Signature Guitar typically features a mahogany body with a carved maple top, finished in a distinctive Holcomb Burst finish. The mahogany and maple combination contributes to a balanced and resonant tone.

  • Neck: It often comes with a comfortable, thin "Wide Thin" mahogany neck that's well-suited for fast playing and shredding.

  • Fingerboard: The fingerboard is usually made of ebony, which is known for its smooth feel and durability. It may feature signature bird inlays or other unique markers, depending on the model year.

  • Scale Length: The guitar typically has a 25.5-inch scale length, which is common for PRS guitars and offers excellent string tension and playability.

  • Pickups: The Mark Holcomb Signature model is known for its signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega humbucking pickups. These pickups are designed to provide a clear and articulate tone with a focus on tight low-end response and precise clarity for modern metal and rock playing.

  • Controls: The control layout often includes volume and tone controls for each pickup, as well as a 3-way pickup selector switch for tonal versatility.

  • Bridge: It may feature a fixed bridge design, such as a Hipshot hardtail bridge or similar, for tuning stability and sustain, which is crucial for heavy playing styles.

  • Hardware: The hardware is typically black or black nickel-plated, providing a sleek and modern look.

  • Included Gig Bag: Many PRS SE Signature models come with a gig bag included for protection during transportation.

  • Signature Features: The Mark Holcomb Signature Guitar may include unique features that Mark Holcomb himself has contributed to its design, such as specific pickup voicings or special fretboard inlays.
